to do with living and practising the temporality of allocations. Temporality always has an end term (statement 6) and every allocation is – in one way or another – a temporary allocation. A matter of civilization The crucial notion here is that a practice of temporary allocations is no more and no less than a matter of civilization. If civilization is a matter of restraint, then a thorough practice of Temporary Alternative Allocations is a royal highway towards a sustainable world (statement 5). The fact that these final words will probably cause as many goosebumps as frowns, shows that it is exactly at this crucial point that obstacles need to be overcome. Obstacles that in our times are more pressing – and because of that more prone to be surmounted – than seldom before. The door is open, there lies a way ahead. And yet, enthusiasm does not come automatically. Moreover, when dealing with a concept such as Temporary Alternative Allocations, the struggle for credibility and feasibility does not only depend on successfully overcoming legal and economic barriers. The essential point lies deeper. Maybe even in the deepest point when we have to admit that we as human beings are temporal and spatial creatures who derive their civilization from the degree in which they have understood their temporality as the mooring point of their lives. A new covenant A new covenant between man and his environment (and space in general) is thus also a contract of man with himself (statement 9). This apparently makes it easy to walk away from it. However, in human spacetime every running away ends up bumping back into itself. In the short or long run you will always run back into yourself. 84 Pagina 85
