design 1 : tree fruit polyculture TREE FRUIT POLYCULTURE As shown in the artist’s impression to the leſt, the tree fruit polyculture consists of alternating rows of Y-trelissed trees, intercropped with herbs, mushrooms, and companion plants. Each row is planted with either cherry, apricot, or nectarine trees. In between the rows of trees are lettuce and echinacea varieties, making use of space that would otherwise be leſt empty.
